Work includes tasks such as concrete and asphalt work, drainage maintenance, landscaping, flagging traffic, and assisting with minor equipment repairs.Employees in this class work both independently and as part of a crew, often in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions. This role supports the safe and effective upkeep of streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systems and plays a key part in snow and ice control operations. Work requires following detailed instructions, using hand tools and light equipment, and maintaining safety standards at all times.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in maintaining and repairing Town streets, sidewalks, and storm drainage systemsPrepare asphalt materials for resurfacing and patchingAssist with laying, pouring, and finishing concreteHand grade streets, ditches, and construction areasClean storm drains, culverts, and catch basinsPerform mowing, trimming, and general landscaping around work sitesHeat and maintain proper temperature on tar kettleSet up safety cones, signs, and flag traffic around work zonesOperate asphalt roller, air hammer, and other light-to-medium equipmentAssist with minor repair of equipment and toolsRemove snow from sidewalks and designated areasPerform other related duties as assignedMinimum Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GEDSix (6) months of related experience in construction, maintenance, or manual labor; OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceSpecial RequirementPossession of a valid North Carolina Driver's LicenseThe Town of Mooresville is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values diversity at all levels of the workforce.Candidates selected for this position must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire.
