About the Job Berkeley Animal Hospital is a privately owned veterinary hospital on San Pablo between Ashby and University Avenue. We are seeking a full-time or part-time Kennel Assistant to join our team of caring and knowledgeable veterinary professionals. We are a newly built facility that is growing every day. We have excellent opportunities for growth in the veterinary field and we are willing to train the right candidate. About You Uphold ethics and promote a culture that is positive and thoughtful. Passionate about animal well-being. Ability to give feedback to management and not partake in workplace gossip. Maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with patients, clients, and coworkers. Maintain proper documentation and medical records as required by law. Comfortable using multiple digital platforms (i.e., Windows, Gmail, and Google Drive). Our software is Neo, a cloud platform, and we will train you if you have not used this program before. Pay close attention to details and follow instructions well. Clinical Expectations Provide compassionate care to every patient; required to physically interact with both cats and dogs. Restock supplies and upkeep the treatment area and exam rooms. Prepare workstations for DVM and RVT for all procedures (i.e., patient preparation, procedure preparation, and sterilization of all surgical instruments). Ability to follow treatment plans and administer medications. Ability to perform grooming tasks, including nail trims and shaving for surgical procedures. Knowledge of kennel procedures and strict disease control in the hospital. Sanitizing/disinfection of kennels, replacing bedding, and washing and folding laundry. Handling and caring for animals to perform work in a humane and safe manner. Keeping the hospital clean and orderly. Qualifications High school diploma or GED, or one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to deal with high-stress situations calmly and productively. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to grab, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
