RESEARCH ASST I (TEMP)

Job Summary

Perform routine research tasks including literature searches, preparation of research dissemination materials (e.g., posters, manuscripts tables, figures, submission formatting), conduct data entry for the projects using REDCap and/or Qualtrics, assisting with survey deployment (e.g., mailings), assisting with formatting of grant proposals, and other tasks for research projects focused on improving cancer care. Students will have the opportunity to attend research planning and team science meetings as their availability permits.

Note: This can be a hybrid position. Tasks can be done from any location, though occasional trips to our office location (North Campus Research Complex Building 16) may be needed.

The research team has several ongoing research projects focused on improving the quality of cancer care. Examples include:

• The iCanCare Follow-up Study is a survey study of 2,500 female breast cancer survivors 5-6 years after initial treatment. The goals are to learn about which doctors are taking care of women in survivorship, whether women are receiving guideline-concordant care, and how they discuss their care needs with their doctors and family members. The study is looking for any sociodemographic disparities in the quality/coordination of breast cancer survivorship care and whether primary care provider (PCP) involvement mitigates these disparities.
• The SURVIVE-CRC study is focused on improving cancer survivorship care for patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer under the age of 50 (early-onset CRC). It includes using cancer registry data to quantify risk of recurrence, conducting a survey study of 3000 survivors of early-onset CRC and their primary care supporters, interviewing survivors and care supporters, and working with clinical stakeholders to create survivorship care pathways aligned with patients' risk and care needs.
• The Transitioning from Active Surveillance to Observation in Prostate Cancer Study examines transitions of men with prostate cancer on active surveillance to observation. The goal of the study is to understand patient and clinician factors that impact whether men continue on active surveillance or not. Specifically, it uses cancer registry and Medicare data to understand patterns of transition and simulate long-term outcomes associated with those patterns, and patient and clinician survey to understand what factors impact their decision-making about transitions.

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
