Family Physician Residency Program Director Opportunity

We are currently looking for a dedicated Program Director for our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency program located in Long Island, NY. This role offers a unique chance to lead the residency training while also engaging in clinical practice across both inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical and leadership abilities, a strong academic background, and a thorough understanding of ACGME policies and program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to ACGME standards throughout all program phases.
• Oversee the development and implementation of the residency curriculum.
• Promote the mission of the residency within the hospital and the surrounding community.
• Participate in the ISMSS GME Affiliation Committee and other relevant meetings to build strong institutional relationships.
• Develop and execute strategies for residency recruitment.
• Act as faculty for the ACGME Family Medicine Residency Program.
• Maintain a clinical practice that includes care for adults and children, as well as prenatal care (intrapartum care and deliveries are preferred but not mandatory).
• Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages wellness.

Expectations

• Maintain a clear and structured program plan.
• Oversee the program's operations, ensuring residents progress and gain experience in line with the educational framework.
• Conduct annual evaluations of the program to assess educational quality and resource availability.
• Establish career planning and counseling mechanisms for residents, addressing issues such as psychological stress.
• Select candidates for program admission in accordance with institutional policies.
• Evaluate resident performance through a structured in-training assessment program, including final evaluations as mandated by ACGME.
• Implement an appeal process for residents regarding promotions, dismissals, and grievances.
• Supervise and assess faculty and staff at primary teaching sites and other participating institutions.
• Collect and report accurate information as required by accrediting and licensing bodies.
• Ensure compliance with institutional and accrediting agency standards, notifying relevant parties of significant program changes and obtaining necessary approvals.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients of all ages.
• Serve as the inpatient teaching attending for the Family Medicine team.
• Deliver direct patient care in the office setting.
• Precept Family Medicine residents during office hours.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Board Certification in Family Medicine.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education.
• Maintain current credentials, including CV, medical license, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, and documentation of hospital admitting privileges.
• Fulfill CME credit hour requirements for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.
• Exhibit outstanding interpersonal, leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate a collaborative team-oriented approach.
• Show a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, cost-effective medical care.
• Display courteous, caring, and respectful behavior, listening and responding in a non-judgmental manner.
• Have a proven record of scholarly activity, including publications and presentations.

Compensation

The salary for this position ranges from $235,000 to $235,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits.

In compliance with New York City salary transparency laws, we provide a salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialty, historical productivity, and community needs. Therefore, the final salary may be closer to either end of the range or, in some cases, may fall outside of it. The listed salary is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses or benefits.
