Job Details Location: Okmulgee, OK (74447) Salary: $25.00 - $32.00 hourly (DOE $28-$35) Hours: M-F, 7am-3:30pm Placement: Immediate Responsibilities Team member must work in a safety conscious environment, including PJHA, Observation process, and compliance with all company/site safety guidelines and procedures. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, piping systems and structural systems. Position may require moderate supervision and follow-up. Layout and fabricate new and replacement piping systems, install valves and related equipment, and perform repairs and preventive maintenance in conformance with established standards. Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards/work procedures and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery. Apply working knowledge of blue print reading, isometric diagrams, B31.1 Pipe Welding Code and 6‑G stainless steel; lay out, position, secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers and ruler. Weld components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment; cut workpiece using powered saws, hand shears or chipping knife; melt lead bar, wire or scrap to add lead to joint or extrude melted scrap into reusable form; install or repair equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors and tank linings. Observe tests on welded surfaces such as hydrostatic, X‑ray and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications; inspect grooves, angles or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper and precision measuring instruments; remove rough spots from workpiece using portable grinder, hand file or scraper. Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions; heat, form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment; ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations; develop templates and work aids to hold and align parts; determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques. Work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary. Must have flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job. Perform other tasks, including mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by Supervisor. Special Note This job description summarizes the duties of two types of welders: “Fitter Welders” perform much of the preparation work while the “Pipe Welders” are certified and perform the actual welding. Pipe Fitters are paid a higher wage due to their certifications. Qualifications Ensures compliance with all company / customer regulations, policies and procedures.
