POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a full-time role, reporting to our ReStore Manager, Director of Operations, and President and CEO. For this role, you must have open availability to work Monday – Saturday in our Summerville, SC ReStore and be able to work 40 hours a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The ReStore Associate will have the following primary responsibilities:

Assisting customers and donors with loading and unloading donations, merchandise, and purchases in a safe and effective manner.

Moving and placing of donations, merchandise, and purchases.

Coordinating and communicating effectively with employees and volunteers regarding the loading, off-loading and handling requirements of ReStore donations, merchandise, and purchases.

Adhering to truck and warehouse safety policies, procedures, and standards.

Assisting in screening merchandise offered for donation for compliance with acceptance standards.

Distributing donation receipts, information, and/or marketing materials.

Moving inventory items with forklift equipment.

Responding to customer and donor inquiries, providing outstanding service to customers and donors.

Maintaining a clean and orderly sales floor, loading and unloading areas, and other work areas.

Understanding and responding to the needs of donors, customers, volunteers, and staff in an efficient, courteous, and respectful manner within the scope of Dorchester Habitat’s Mission and operating policies.

Understanding and demonstrating Dorchester Habitat’s goals, mission, philosophy, and policies.

Professionally and effectively working with staff, volunteers, customers, donors, and the public.

Other duties as assigned by the ReStore Managers and/or Executive Director.

PROFICIENCIES

Knowledge of furniture moving techniques is helpful.

Reasonable familiarity with building materials.

Able to operate warehouse material handling equipment, such as a forklift, hand truck, and dolly.

Timely complete tasks and fulfills responsibilities.

Work well with minimal supervision and under pressure.

Punctual and reliable.

Good problem solving skills.

Excellent customer service skills, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.

REQUIREMENTS

Clear SLED and FBI checks.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities and skills.

Communicates effectively, both written and verbal.

Able to safely lift (and position) at least 50+ pounds.

Able to stand, squat, bend, and climb in and out of a truck on a frequent basis.

Eighteen (18) years or older.

Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents and instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram, or schedule form, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Physical: Most work is performed indoors, but there is also regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and/or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb; balance; stoop; kneel; and crouch. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regularly required to talk and/or hear. Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
