II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE
To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by consulting with school-based counselors to coordinate necessary services for referred children. III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification by the State Department of Education as a Social Worker.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Master's Degree in Social Work from a regionally accredited institution.
- Additional Criteria as the Board may require.
- Explain and interpret school social work services to parents, teachers, Principals and other members of the parish school system.
- Facilitate communication between the home and the school, seeking to involve families in the educational process of their children and providing feedback to the school on family situations and problems.Collaborates with teachers to develop IEPs and participate in IEP conferences.
- Provide consultative services to the families and school-based counselor of and, when necessary, counseling services to students who are experiencing problems in social and behavioral functioning at school which result from circumstances or events present in the home.
- Serve as liaison between the school and community agencies, through reciprocal referral arrangements, collaboration on cases, and assistance to families in obtaining and utilizing local resources.
- Interpret social assessment, findings to parents, teachers, Principals, and other professional parish personnel and responsible practitioners outside the school.
- Produce a written report of any social work assessments or other services provided to clients.
- Provide assistance to students and their families in meeting physical and economic needs through cooperation with the referral to community agencies and service groups.
- Provide or assist in the provision of in-service training of school personnel in areas of responsibility and expertise.
- Participate in meetings that determine educational placement.
- Maintain accurate case records on all clients regarding their referral, evaluation and any other services provided by the social worker in accordance with the requirements of parish, state and federal laws, regulations and/or policies.
- Attend staff, professional and interagency meetings including those assigned.
- Keep abreast of new developments in the area of school social work and keep other appropriate school personnel informed of the same.
- Complete all required reports of the parish and State Department of Education.
- Provide parent counseling and/or training on meaningful communication, on child management concerns, either on an individual or group basis.
- Function as a liaison for designated schools.
- Provide/conduct Professional Development to school-based counselors on trauma informed practices or other school related activities as the Supervisor or Superintendent's designee may deem necessary to enhance the school's program in a reasonable and professional manner.

- Attend meetings generally associated with the instructions of students
- Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings
- Attend training sessions
- Attend IEP meetings
- Attend parent-teacher conferences
- Attend back-to-school and open-house events
- Attend graduation
- Attend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings
- Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request
- Extracurricular Activities
- Attend/work concessions/gates of no more than 15 athletic events per school year as requested by the principal or designee
- Attend all meetings and functions of those activities, clubs, or groups of which the employee is a sponsor
