The Mechanical Engineer PFP is responsible for the design and layout of plumbing and fire protection systems. Responsibilities Design plumbing and fire protection portions of a project using engineering formulas and skills for ensuring safety and technical accuracy. Review design project for code compliance. Identify and select equipment from appropriate manufacturing catalogs for specific applications. Ability to perform on-site investigations and surveys prior to design and during construction. Coordinate the contract documents between engineering disciplines for architects. Provide technical support to contractors throughout construction. Perform own drafting/design using AutoCAD and/or Revit and review own work for accuracy. Perform hydraulic calculations using computer software. Coordinate utility requirements with local utility companies including obtaining hydrant flow test data for project sites. Qualifications B.S. degree preferred in mechanical engineering with 2 to 5 years of job-related experience. Ability to draft using AutoCAD and Revit software. Strong oral and written skills.
