Java Programmer

Job Summary:

The Programmer (Specialist) for BMV Modernization is responsible for developing and refactoring Java-based business logic and database interaction code to support a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). This role involves creating reusable business services, troubleshooting application and performance issues, and ensuring quality through automated testing and security analysis. The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in the Eastern and Central Time Zones, and requires collaboration within a structured development environment focused on modernization initiatives. Responsibilities:

• Refactor business logic and database I/O Java code from servlets implementing MVC to SOA architecture.
• Develop Java code for SOA utilizing JSON/REST via Spring and CXF frameworks.
• Create reusable business services and components following SOA and MVC design principles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, service integration, database, and performance issues.
• Perform QA/testing using Maven and mock class implementations to enable unit testing.
• Conduct automated security analysis of Java code.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced Java programming experience (4+ years).
• Intermediate SQL skills (2+ years).
• Beginner-level React UI Library experience (1+ years).
• Experience with Oracle Database (beginner level).
• Intermediate experience with TomEE (Tomcat) Server (2+ years).
• Intermediate experience with CXF REST framework (2+ years).
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Completion and upload of all State of Maine required credentials prior to start.
• Completion of eVerify process by third day of contract.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience working with the State of Maine.
• QA testing experience.

• Position is 100% remote, candidates must reside in Eastern or Central Time Zones.
