2026 Fall Emergency Management Co-Op/Internship

Tampa Electric offers a co‑op position in Emergency Management & Business Continuity, allowing college students or recent graduates to apply academic knowledge, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals. Position Concept The Co‑Op Student will assist the Emergency Management & Business Continuity team with preparedness and response activities for all types of threats and hazards. Responsibilities include: Updating plans, documents, and emergency assignments Developing training and exercise materials Assisting in the preparation and delivery of internal team member preparedness information Conducting research and business continuity assessments as needed Position Summary/Details Located at TECO Plaza, this role provides college students with real‑world experience in emergency management while working in an office environment with occasional visits to company and stakeholder locations. Education and Qualifications Enrolled in an accredited university or college undergraduate or graduate level program in a related discipline. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Enrollment in the university’s co‑op program is required. Position Requirements Currently pursuing a degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, or Business. Preferred/Related Discipline Basic understanding of emergency management is preferred. Recommended FEMA Independent Study courses: ISC 100, ISC 200, NIMS 700, NIMS 800. Year in School Junior, Senior, or Graduate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to organize, develop, and write professional documents. Team player. Effective communicator. Highly organized. Working Conditions Primarily office based, with occasional visits to company and stakeholder locations. Preferred Availability Part‑time (20‑30 hours).
