Special Education Teacher

Position Type Instructional-Special Education Compensation Salary Range: Starting pay 50,000.00 (negotiable). Pay increases based on experience. Starting Date 25-26 School Year Retirement 401K with 4% and another 4% matching by the school Benefits Full benefits and life insurance Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate Full approval in at least one area of special education Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities The ability to engage students actively and meaningfully in their learning Responsibilities Must possess and demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional strategies that have been designed to benefit all students. Monitor and track the implementation of IEP goals, supplemental aides, services and supports. The teacher will serve as a primary contact for parents and legal guardians for their assigned caseload students. The teacher will assess student progress and determine the need for additional instructional support. The assigned teacher will use research-based instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives that are written into each student’s IEP. The assigned teacher will provide direction, and supervision to the para educators that are assigned to work with students that are on their caseload. The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations. The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal. The teacher will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers in order to meet the need of their assigned caseload students. The teacher will conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations.
