Nurse Extern Orthopedics PRN

Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a dedicated Nurse Extern for our Orthopedics unit on a PRN basis. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care for individuals recovering from fractures, joint replacements, spine surgeries, and other musculoskeletal conditions. As a Nurse Extern, you will assist with basic patient care activities such as vital sign monitoring, mobility and ambulation, hygiene and comfort measures, intake and output tracking, and safe transport, while gaining exposure to post-operative orthopedic protocols, pain management practices, and rehabilitation-focused care. You will collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, physical and occupational therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to promote safe recovery, prevent complications, and ensure an excellent patient and family experience. This position is designed for nursing students who are actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program and seeking to expand their clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence in an acute care environment. You will be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, and adherence to unit policies and procedures.
