The Director of Engineering shall work under the direction of the Executive Dean of Science, Engineering, & Math, and shall provide supervision of Engineering faculty and instructors, oversight of course scheduling, marketing, transfer engineering student advising and extracurricular activity oversight, community and industry networking, and curriculum development, and collaborating with engineering laboratory staff to assure that instructional needs are met. The Director shall assist the Executive Dean with the hiring of Engineering faculty and shall be responsible for the hiring of Engineering instructors. The Director shall maintain commitment to quality instruction, the primary objective of the institution. This leader will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students. Start Date for this position is January 15 (salary to be pro-rated). Please note this is a 12 month position.Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supervise Engineering faculty and instructors.
• Coordinate with the PPSC Grant Director to identify and write grant proposals to support the engineering program and faculty initiatives
• Engineering curriculum and program design.
• Strategic course scheduling.
• Community networking and coordination with university partners.
• Develop and maintain industry partnerships to support program relevance and student outcomes.
• Program marketing and information sessions.
• Engineering student advising and support of extracurricular activities.
• Coordinate professional training and development opportunities for Engineering faculty and instructors.
• Collaborate with the Director of Lab Operations and the Rampart Science & Engineering Lab Coordinator to assure that all course needs are met, and that appropriate equipment is selected for purchase for new courses, programs, and innovative advances.
• Other duties as required or directed by the Executive Dean.
Competencies/KSAs:
• Establish clear and logical goals and objectives.
• Responsible for internal planning, administration and program development, and coordination of faculty professional training needs.
• Responsible for external relations with other program divisions, departments, colleges and university partners, industry partners and employers, agencies, and the general public.
• Responsible for new and existing articulations.
• Review industry trends, identify employer needs, and cultivate industry partnerships based on program data reports.
• Maintains program needs and communication.
• Assist with student advising for transfer engineering program.
• Ability to navigate differences effectively and respectfully in the workplace.
• Adhere to college policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Completed Master's degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution.
• Seven years of professional-level engineering related experience.
• Three years of teaching experience at a postsecondary institution.
• Experience in grant writing and administration.
• Experience in professional training and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctorate degree in a related field from a Higher Learning Commission accredited institution.
• Four or more years of teaching at a postsecondary institution.
• One or more years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.

Pikes Peak State College offers a generous amount of annual leave and sick leave. Depending on your employment category and full or part-time status, Pikes Peak State College offers 15 hours a month of annual leave and 10 hours a month of sick leave accrual. There are paid holidays and alternate paid holidays which allow the college to be closed Christmas Day through New Year's Day. Eligibility is defined by your employment FTE status.
