RESIDENT CARE DIRECTOR The John Bertram Homes of Swampscott and Salem are seeking an experienced nurse leader to oversee our Wellness Department and serve as a key member of the senior management team. The Resident Care Director (“RCD”) is responsible for the clinical oversight of resident care services, supervision of the Wellness Nurses and medication management staff, and ensuring compliance with Massachusetts assisted living regulations and quality-of-care standards. The RCD works in close partnership with the Assisted Living and Memory Care Coordinators on all aspects of resident care and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, compliant, resident-centered environment across both communities. RESPONSIBILITIES · Serve as the clinical leader for the Wellness Department and collaborate with the management team to support the health, wellness, and quality of life of residents in an assisted living and memory care setting. · Maintain strong working knowledge of Massachusetts assisted living regulations (651 CMR) and oversee ongoing clinical and operational compliance with AGE requirements, including documentation, assessments, medication management, incident reporting, staffing oversight, and quality assurance activities. · Lead and oversee the community’s clinical compliance and quality-of-care programs, including participation in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, audits, corrective action planning, and regulatory survey preparedness. · Collaborate with Assisted Living and Memory Care Coordinators to complete resident assessments, service plans, and ongoing evaluations of resident needs and appropriateness for assisted living. · Coordinate with physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, home health agencies, hospice providers, and other professional partners to support integrated resident care and positive clinical outcomes. · Oversee and manage the community medication management programs, including the SAMM program, with an emphasis on resident safety, regulatory compliance, and best practices in medication administration and documentation. · Hire, train, coach, supervise, and schedule Wellness Nurses, medication managers, and other clinical staff. · Monitor and evaluate clinical trends, incidents, falls, hospitalizations, medication variances, and other quality indicators to identify opportunities for process improvement and risk reduction. · Ensure timely completion of required assessments, incident reporting, care documentation, and compliance-related records. · Support family communication and resident advocacy efforts in partnership with the management team. · Responsible for management of the Wellness Department budget and clinical resource utilization. QUALIFICATIONS · Current Massachusetts RN or LPN license in good standing. · Minimum of five years of nursing experience in assisted living, memory care, geriatrics, or long-term care. · Minimum of two years of nursing leadership or management experience, including hiring, coaching, scheduling, staff supervision, and performance management. · Strong familiarity with Massachusetts assisted living regulations (651 CMR), AGE requirements, medication management standards, and clinical compliance expectations strongly preferred. · Experience with clinical quality improvement, incident management, regulatory surveys, and compliance oversight. · Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. · Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, healthcare providers, and regulatory agencies. The position may be filled by an LPN or RN. Compensation will be commensurate with licensure, experience, and qualifications.
