Located at 215 N. Main Street in White River Junction, VT, the facility offers a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services including primary care, specialty care, surgical services, mental health programs, and diagnostic imaging. WRJ VAMC is also affiliated with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and is recognized for its commitment to veteran-centered care, clinical research, and health professional education.The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will deliver a full spectrum of Nuclear Medicine services to veterans at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. Responsibilities include preparing contrast and radiopharmaceutical materials under the direction of the radiologist; performing Nuclear Medicine examinations including GI Bleed studies, Cardiac Stress Tests, Bone Scans, HIDA Scans, DaTscans, GI Emptying studies, Parathyroid scans, and Lung Perfusion/Ventilation scans; receiving and interpreting radiology requests for accuracy and appropriateness; performing and completing imaging studies within established guidelines for stat, pre-op, urgent, and routine examinations; ensuring quality of radiographic exams by maintaining high acceptability standards while minimizing patient dosage; operating a wide variety of imaging equipment including Symbia Intevo Excel (Siemens) and D-Spect (Spectrum Dynamics Medical) to obtain examinations of acceptable quality; maintaining electronic records and files of exams performed; applying Infection Control practices and safety procedures for patients and staff as mandated by Medical Center and Imaging Service policies for all imaging modalities; and recording all doses of medications; properly identifying patients using full name and social security number; verifying correct contrast type/amount with a second person for timed examinations.Requirements include current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) certification; minimum of two (2) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine with understanding of advanced applications; knowledge of anatomy and physiology including location, appearance, and functioning of major and minor systems susceptible to radiographic illumination; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; proficiency in operating Nuclear Medicine imaging equipment and computerized patient record systems (CPRS/VistA); ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently; must pass VA background investigation prior to beginning performance; and compliance with all VA credentialing, privileging, and mandatory training requirements per VHA Handbook 1100.19.KurzSolutions is committed to improving health outcomes by providing well-managed companies with the top healthcare talent in the market.
