JOB DESCRIPTION In the heart of The Dalles, Oregon, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge has served the Columbia River Gorge community since 1901. We are comprised of a 49-bed hospital, various medical offices, home health, a birthing center and a vast scope of services located throughout The Dalles and the surrounding areas. The Dalles is known for its picturesque views of the Columbia River, local charm and delicious downtown restaurants and bakeries. There is something for everyone in this scenic community. Job Summary: Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physicians. Produces images of internal body tissues in order to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions such as heart disease, pregnancy and cancer. Supervises and mentors ultrasound students. Maintains equipment. This position is represented by OFNHP. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in radiological technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
- Certificate or diploma from approved ultrasound school: Required
- Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics (OB) or Vascular (RVT); or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS); or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or (VS):: Required
- Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification in Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics (OB) or Vascular (RVT); or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS); or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography (S) or (VS): Required
- Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient's body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs, vessels and pathology. Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses. Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions and standards.
- Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate. Positions patients and equipment, prepares patients for procedures and continually monitors and records vital signs. Observes for reactions and signs of impending complications and intervening as needed.
- Maintains accurate records, files and billing information. Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
- Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
- Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
