Diagnostic Imaging Technologist

Responsible for performing high quality diagnostic and CT images in the Diagnostic and Outpatient Pavilion Imaging Departments.

Conducts various high quality CT and radiographic images.

Receives and confirms orders for exams.

Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards.

Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.

Acts as a patient advocate.

Assists in other modalities as needed.

Transports patients.

Answers and directs phone calls.

Orders supplies.

Participates in departmental and hospital wide informational meetings and in-services, including staff meetings, hospital wide forums, and seminars.

Reviews department and hospital wide policies and procedures annually.

All other duties as assigned.

Takes "on-call" status when required.

This job involves: recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm. A high level of complexity. Typical operation from established and well-known procedures. Performance of duties under minimal supervision.

Contacts are normally made with others both inside and outside the hospital. Are made with own department, staff, and supervisor as well as other departments and locations. Frequently contain confidential/sensitive information necessitating discretion at all times. Include face-to-face and telephone contact, with little-to-no e-mail. Include contact with staff, patients, and physicians.

This position requires operational knowledge of all office equipment in the Diagnostic Imaging department, including: fax, printer, phone systems, computer, and commonly used hospital computer programs (including Hospital Information Systems, MS Office, e-mail, and internet). Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must also be service oriented and have excellent customer service skills, computer skills, problem-solving skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette.

High school diploma or equivalent (required). BLS/CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire date). ARRT licensure for Radiology and CT licensure (required). MRTBE licensure CRT and CTCT (required). Basic computer skills (required). 1-2 years related experience (preferred).

Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, extensive computer work, and encounters with upset or disturbed individuals. Physical motions include finger dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, talking, reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, kneeling, grasping, listening/hearing, handling, lifting up to 100 pounds, and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet. This is a safety sensitive position. Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
