Location: Charlotte, NC 28202 Pay Rate: $28.00–$28.20/hr, paid weekly Schedule: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, typically Monday–Friday and Sunday, with potential weekday overtime Duration: 6-Month Contract, with potential for extension

Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving industrial plant equipment to support safe and efficient facility operations. This position performs both preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery, responds to equipment breakdowns, and assists with equipment installations and modifications.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on industrial maintenance experience with pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, rigging, welding, and mechanical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and respond to production line maintenance calls.
• Perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on plant machinery.
• Repair and rebuild pumps and perform pump alignments.
• Maintain conveyors, auger systems, cables, packaging equipment, and other industrial machinery.
• Install, align, repair, and modify equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
• Perform rigging, hydraulic maintenance, cutting, grinding, and welding safely.
• Read equipment drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Document equipment repairs and machine modifications accurately.
• Recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, and process improvements to increase reliability and performance.
• Follow OSHA requirements and all plant safety policies and procedures.
• Work effectively with team members while completing assignments with minimal supervision.
• Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.

Qualifications

• Previous industrial maintenance or maintenance mechanic experience required.
• Experience with hydraulics, pumps, conveyors, rigging, cutting, grinding, and welding required.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial maintenance safety practices.
• Ability to read equipment drawings and technical schematics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively under time constraints.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Vocational/technical degree, Millwright training, or related technical training strongly preferred.
• Successful completion of a background check required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to bend, kneel, lift, sit, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding industrial maintenance work.
