VACUUM TRUCK UTILITY - $22.51 (1)

Position Summary

The Vacuum Truck Utility Helper supports the safe and efficient operation of vacuum truck activities throughout the mill. This position assists the Vacuum Truck Operator with industrial cleanup, material removal, equipment setup, hose handling, housekeeping, and transportation activities. The Utility Helper is responsible for following all Company safety requirements and assisting with work in a manner that protects employees, equipment, and the environment.

Responsibilities: (But not Limited)

• Assist the Vacuum Truck Operator with daily vacuum truck operations and assigned work.
• Connect, disconnect, position, and move vacuum hoses and associated equipment.
• Assist with the removal of pulp, sludge, liquids, debris, and other industrial materials.
• Perform cleanup of pits, sumps, trenches, tanks, process areas, and other designated areas.
• Set up barricades, warning signs, hoses, and equipment prior to beginning work.
• Monitor hoses, fittings, valves, and equipment during operations and report issues immediately.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and proper disposal of collected materials.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Assist with routine inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of vacuum truck equipment.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures, including PPE, LOTO, confined space, fall protection, and other mill requirements as applicable.
• Follow environmental procedures for handling, containment, transportation, and disposal of materials.
• Communicate effectively with the Vacuum Truck Operator, supervisors, and other employees.
• Assist during outages, shutdowns, emergency response, and special cleaning projects.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, spills, and environmental concerns immediately.
• Complete required documentation, inspections, and work records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must obtain a Class B Driver’s License; in 9 months – if currently not held
• Must be licensed or certified to operate a manual transmission
• Must have a clean driver’s license

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, industrial, construction, or heavy equipment experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate and work around industrial equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on job responsibilities.

Work Environment

The position works throughout an active pulp and paper manufacturing facility and may be exposed to:

• Heavy machinery and mobile equipment
• Noise and vibration
• Steam and hot surfaces
• Water, pulp, sludge, and industrial waste
• Chemicals and process materials
• Dust and airborne particulates
• Confined spaces
• Elevated work areas
• Outdoor weather conditions
