Company Description The Law Offices of Maurice Woods, II seeks to add a litigator with relevant experience in civil practice. Known for insurance defense work on behalf of some of the largest insurance companies in North America, we continue to focus heavily on catastrophic personal injury, complex construction defect, commercial business litigation, first party insurance and insurance bad faith. We are a nimble, small firm collaborative environment where many of our clients’ cases actually get tried to juries in today’s legal climate where trials often seem rare. Maurice Woods, II has practiced civil trial law in Oklahoma for 30 years. Mr. Woods is AV Rated by his peers through Martindale Hubbell, having tried nearly seventy jury trials he is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, holds distinction as Advocate in the American Board of Trial Advocates, and has been consistently named to Super Lawyers for nearly two decades.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Trial Attorney role based in Oklahoma City, OK. The Trial Attorney will manage a litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including case evaluation, legal research, drafting pleadings, and preparing and arguing motions. Daily responsibilities include meeting with clients and witnesses, developing case strategy, conducting and defending depositions, and coordinating with staff and other attorneys. The role involves regular court appearances for hearings, conferences, and trials, including jury selection, opening statements, examinations, and closing arguments. The Trial Attorney will also participate in settlement negotiations, mediation, and ongoing case management to ensure timely, ethical, and effective representation.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law, including civil and/or criminal litigation, legal research, and case strategy development.
• Experience drafting and arguing Motions, including dispositive and evidentiary motions, with clear, persuasive written advocacy.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal Courts, including procedures, rules of evidence, and courtroom practice.
• Proven experience handling Trials, including jury and bench trials, from pretrial preparation through verdict.
• Skill in conducting Depositions of parties, experts, and witnesses, with effective questioning and record creation.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active license (or eligibility for admission) to practice law in Oklahoma.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently.
• Commitment to ethical practice, client-centered advocacy, and collaborative teamwork within the firm.
• Prior trial or significant courtroom experience (e.g., clerkships, internships, or litigation roles) is strongly preferred.
