The Service Dispatcher is responsible for the smooth workflow by the technicians by distributing the service jobs according to customer need, time frame, tech skill level, and source. Ensures that each item on the repair order has been completed before returning the vehicle to the customer.

• Receives the repair orders from the service advisors/consultants, records the RO's in the dispatch route system and sends a copy to the parts shop counter, if needed.
• Issues the repair orders to the technicians according to the instructions on the RO's, the degree of difficulty of the repair or maintenance, the available technicians' skill levels, customer requests, and source of work.
• Makes periodic checks with technicians and team leaders on work progress and advises shop foreman if assistance is necessary.
• Keeps the service advisors up to date with the progress of the work, suggested additional work, parts, and sublet delays and expected completion times.
• Receives notice from the technician when work is completed and sends the repair order to the service advisor. If the RO is sent to a service booker, the advisor is notified of completed status. Makes required notations in dispatch route system.
• Promotes customer satisfaction and retention by working closely and cooperatively with the advisors, technicians, and foremen in promoting communication and efficiency.
• Is scrupulous in distributing work in a fair and equitable manner at all times. Exceptions are the responsibility of service management.
• Trains the back-up dispatchers in all dispatch procedures and systems.
• Attends manufacturer or dealership training as required.
• Attends shop meetings, identifying areas of opportunity.
• Must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening (background and drug test).
