Sr Quality Engineer

Job Summary

A direct hire opportunity is available for a Sr Quality Engineer in Carson City, NV, supporting aerospace and defense manufacturing operations with a focus on machining, inspection, quality control, and turbine engine repair processes. This role is ideal for an experienced quality professional who enjoys leading inspection teams, maintaining compliance with aerospace quality standards, and partnering closely with production to ensure safe, accurate, and customer-focused results.

The Sr Quality Engineer will supervise quality control, inspection, and non-destructive testing operations while helping drive continuous improvement, documentation accuracy, and strong cross-functional teamwork. Key Responsibilities

- Supervise inspection, quality control, and NDT operations, including receiving inspection, final inspection, calibration, metallurgical lab, and related inspection areas.
- Coordinate work assignments and resource coverage for inspection operations in partnership with production teams.
- Review shop travelers, documentation, quality records, and document control requirements for accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure employee testing, certifications, cross-training, safety standards, and housekeeping expectations are maintained.
- Support compliance with Quality Systems Manual requirements, AS/ISO standards, repair station requirements, and applicable quality procedures.
- Promote continuous improvement, lean principles, teamwork, customer service, and a high standard of quality performance across the department.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Lead inspection, quality control, and NDT operations in an aerospace manufacturing or repair environment.
- Oversee quality documentation, shop traveler reviews, certification tracking, and inspection process compliance.
- Manage, evaluate, and support inspection staff while promoting safety, training, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with AS/ISO quality requirements, Quality Systems Manual requirements, and applicable repair station standards.

- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of current experience in a similar aerospace, manufacturing, turbine engine repair, or quality environment.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Knowledge of turbine engine repair processes and production procedures related to assigned quality and inspection processes.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to read, write, and understand specifications, manuals, procedures, and quality documentation.
- Certified FAA Repairman eligibility required.
- Ability to certify to Level I or Level II every three years in at least one NDT discipline.
- Must pass applicable vision testing if required.
- Detailed knowledge of inspection processes, document control, nonconformance awareness, and quality system compliance.
- Familiarity with AS/ISO quality requirements and repair station quality expectations.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a quality-oriented mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- High degree of professionalism with a focus on customer care, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience with Part 145 or Part 21 certification inspection.
- Experience with NDT operations such as X-ray, FPI, airflow testing, ultrasonic testing, or related aerospace inspection methods.
- Experience supporting lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, safety programs, and quality procedure updates.
- Prior experience in aerospace and defense machining, CNC manufacturing, turbine component repair, or engine repair operations.
