Genetic Counselor I

As a Genetic CounselorI, you will play a crucial role in our clinical support team, responsible forfacilitatingcommunication betweenBaylor Genetics andprofessional clients, critical review of laboratorytest orders andreports,managing complex casesandprovidingexpert guidance in genetic testing strategies. KEY RESPONSIBILITES Communicate effectively with professional clients, ensuring coordination of complex cases and relaying abnormal or intricate results.Performcritical review oftest ordersandlaboratory reports for accuracy and precision. Facilitate managementof complex casesbetween various internal teams andexternal clients Act as a liaison between professional clients and laboratory teams. Educate and support professional trainees, including genetic counseling students. Contribute to new test development, policies, andprocedures.Collaborateon professional manuscripts and presentations related to genetics. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education: Master of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC-accredited programorequivalent. Experience: Experience (1+ years) in clinical or laboratory genetics preferred. Certification: Board certified or Board eligibleinGenetic Counseling by ABMG or ABGC. COMPETENCIES In-depth knowledge of clinical and laboratory genetics along with related resources. Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in analysis and reporting. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within laboratory teams. Fundamental understanding of laws governing laboratory functions. Proficiencyin computer skills, including database managementand electronic medical records. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Frequently required to sit. Frequently required toutilizehand and finger dexterity. Frequently required to talk or hear.
