Job Description
The Facilities Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, and improves building systems and facility infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role oversees preventive maintenance programs, coordinates vendor and contractor services, responds to facility issues, and supports daily operational and project needs across the property.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire and life safety systems, and other facility equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment and building systems to maximize reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshoot facility issues, diagnose root causes, and complete repairs in a timely and effective manner.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors and vendors, ensuring high-quality work, adherence to safety standards, and alignment with budget and project requirements.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and recommend repairs, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for ongoing and emergency work.
- Perform general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, flooring work, locksmith tasks, and minor construction repairs.
- Support facility projects and operational initiatives, contributing technical expertise and hands-on support as needed.
- Assist with emergency response efforts related to facility systems, including after-hours or urgent maintenance issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements in all maintenance and repair activities.
- Document work performed using work order systems and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Collaborate with supervisors, technicians, and other stakeholders to prioritize tasks and support overall facility performance.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building engineering, or a closely related field.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, including operation, basic diagnostics, and routine maintenance.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, circuits, and related components.
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and general building maintenance practices.
- Hands-on experience in maintenance repair, including troubleshooting and resolving equipment and building issues.
- Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Ability to use work order systems and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications for documentation and communication.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for both mechanical and building-related issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in various facility environments for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds safely.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Technical training or trade certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience as a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, Building Engineer, Facilities Technician, or similar role.
- Experience managing maintenance projects from planning through completion.
- Experience coordinating vendors and contractors for maintenance and repair work.
- Experience with general carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and flooring work.
- Experience with locksmith tasks and minor construction repairs.
- Experience in recruiting, customer service, or HR administration related to maintenance or facilities teams is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
- Commitment to safety and familiarity with applicable safety and regulatory requirements for building systems.

Work Environment
This role primarily follows a Day or Swing shift, Monday through Friday schedule, with the need to remain flexible for occasional shift adjustments, evenings, or weekends based on operational or emergency needs. The work takes place in a variety of facility environments, including mechanical rooms, interior spaces, and building exteriors, where you will frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, and work at different heights or in confined areas. You will handle tools, equipment, and materials, and regularly lift and carry up to 40 pounds. The position involves hands-on work with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building components, using standard maintenance tools and basic computer systems to manage work orders and documentation. Safety practices and adherence to regulatory requirements are an integral part of the daily work environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.
