divh2Apprentice Mechanic Technician/h2pCurtis Bay - Baltimore, MD 21226/ph3Overview/h3pSalary Range $17.00 - $22.00 Hourly Level Entry/ph3Description/h3pGeneral Summary:/ppReporting to the Fleet Manager, provides mechanical support to the fleet mechanics and performs various basic tasks and minor repairs to the fleet vehicles./ppPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:/pulliInspects fleet vehicles to determine if it meets the mechanical standards as established by the Fleet Manager./liliMaintains a listing of vehicles needing repairs to their physical appearance both inside and outside. For example: wheels, paint repairs, mud-flaps, etc./liliReviews the DVIRs submitted by the drivers and completes any needed repairs. Notifies Fleet Manager of any major problems with the vehicle./liliOn a daily basis, documents the type/amount of parts and labor expended on completed and on-going work orders/liliFuels and washes the fleet vehicles as needed/liliCompletes minor vehicle repairs as instructed/liliAssists the Fleet Journey Master Mechanics with repairs and projects./liliWhen necessary, transports drivers mechanics to/from vehicle repair facilities and drives to vendor locations to pick up needed vehicle parts/liliMaintains a safe work environment by following company/departmental safety practices and procedures./liliOperates various garage equipment including a forklift./li/ulpMiscellaneous Functions:/pulliPerforms other tasks duties as assigned or required./liliDuring peak business periods and/or extreme weather conditions, may be required to work an atypical schedule or work in other capacities within the organization./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pMinimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent/liliValid Maryland Drivers License, Class B CDL preferred/liliAbility to effectively verbally communicate with co-workers/liliAbility to understand, comprehend and follow basic directions and pay attention to detail./liliMust be able to periodically work independently./li/ulh3Working Conditions/h3ulliFrequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions including moderate to high noise levels, dust and dirt, lubricant/petroleum products and exposure to inclement weather (rain/snow, cold, heat)./liliMust be able to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours)./liliFrequent bending, lifting, carrying, pulling/pushing of items weighing 50 lbs. and above./li/ul/div
