The role involves litigating cases before administrative law judges, advising clients on case strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Represent employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation claims before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). Handle all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, trial preparation, and hearings. Evaluate case strengths, settlement value, and exposure to advise clients. Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and settlement agreements. Conduct legal research and stay current with statutory and case law developments. Attend hearings, mediations, and depositions. Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel. Maintain and manage case files and deadlines. Communicate with clients, medical providers, witnesses, and experts. Qualifications - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active member in good standing with the VA Bar 0–5+ years of experience in workers’ compensation law (defense preferred) Strong litigation and negotiation skills. Excellent written and oral communication. Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently.
