Position opening: Transportation R.N (Registered Nurse) 30 hours/week year-round schedule following special education schedule. Calendar to be provided by student services. Rate of pay: $34.00-36.00/hour reports to: District R.N, Transportation Director non-rep hourly position.

What we need:

• Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (R.N) in Michigan
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
• Completion of continuing education requirements necessary to maintain active LPN licensure
• Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in mutual respect
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication
• Strong interpersonal and public relations skills
• Must be comfortable riding district busses and working in such environment

Duties and responsibilities:

• Assists with daily transport of medically fragile students to and from Wing Lake School on district transportation
• Must adhere strictly to doctor prescribed orders
• Provide limited nursing support for medically fragile students while on district provided bussing in the morning and afternoons
• Providing care such as, but not limited to, oral suction, monitoring for seizures, monitoring blood sugar levels, monitoring O2 levels (tanks), monitoring/turning off or on feeding pump
• Record medical events accurately and in a timely manner
• Other duties as assigned

Physical demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and kneel on hard surfaces and is occasionally required to walk or stand
• The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job
• The employee frequently will reach above the head and forward
• The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp equipment or students
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds such as students or students in wheelchairs
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
