Administrative Assistant - Department of Language and Literature

General Statement of Job

The Administrative Assistant I performs administrative and clerical duties in support of University programs and staff.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Conducts various projects for administrative divisions.

Screens incoming calls and correspondence and responds independently when possible.

Arranges programs, events, or conferences for facilities and caterers; issues information or invitations, as needed.

Prepares confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents.

Photocopies correspondences, tests, handouts, reports, and other documents.

Creates and maintains databases and spreadsheet files.

Enters data in the computer from various applications and prospect forms.

Orders and maintains office supplies and printed material.

Tracks budget information.

Supervises students taking exams.

Performs other related duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Licenses

High School diploma or GED required. One year certificate from college or technical school.

Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Driver's License preferred.

• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
