LINE/PREP COOK
Claudine Kitchen & Bakeshop is a busy, chef-driven breakfast and lunch restaurant committed to excellent food, consistent quality and genuine hospitality. Our Line/Prep Cooks prepare and execute menu items while maintaining Claudine’s standards for quality, consistency, organization, speed and food safety.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Set up and organize assigned prep and cooking stations
• Prepare ingredients and menu items according to established recipes and production lists
• Cook and plate food accurately, consistently and efficiently
• Follow portion, presentation and quality standards
• Safely operate grills, griddles, fryers, ovens, stoves, mixers, knives and other kitchen equipment
• Monitor food quality, doneness, temperature and presentation
• Label, date, rotate and properly store ingredients and prepared food
• Restock ingredients and supplies before and throughout service
• Accurately complete required prep, production, temperature, waste and inventory records
• Maintain clean, sanitary and organized stations, walk-ins and storage areas
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety procedures
• Minimize waste and use ingredients responsibly
• Communicate orders, timing, shortages and quality concerns promptly
• Work closely with kitchen leadership and other team members to complete preparation and service
• Complete other reasonable duties needed to support kitchen operations

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous professional line-cook or prep-cook experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
• Dependability, accountability and punctuality
• Ability to accurately follow recipes, production lists and instructions
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining food quality and safety
• Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities during busy service
• Willingness to accept coaching and work as part of a team
• Basic reading, writing and kitchen-math skills
• Valid California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one within the required timeframe

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Line/Prep Cooks must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Stand and walk for up to nine hours during a shift
• Frequently reach, bend, twist, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Push, pull and move ingredients, equipment, racks and supplies
• Use hands continuously to grasp, cut, measure, mix, prepare, cook, plate and carry food, tools and equipment
• Occasionally climb or use a step stool to retrieve or store items
• Safely work around open flames, hot surfaces, steam, fryers, ovens, grills, knives and commercial kitchen equipment
• See, hear and communicate sufficiently to safely and accurately perform assigned responsibilities
• Read and follow recipes, tickets, labels, production lists and written or verbal instructions
• Accurately measure ingredients, follow portions and perform basic calculations
• Maintain attention, recall information and organize multiple orders and production priorities
• Recognize food quality, doneness, temperature, consistency and presentation standards
• Make timely decisions and solve routine preparation or service problems
• Work efficiently under pressure while managing interruptions and changing priorities
• Communicate clearly and professionally with leadership and other team members
• Use restaurant technology or equipment required to receive orders or complete assigned records

SCHEDULE
Applicants must be available for the shifts required by restaurant operations. Shifts may include early mornings, afternoons, weekends and holidays.
COMPENSATION
Hourly rate plus applicable tips.
