Make a difference, come join the team!What's the role?The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems and related building infrastructure supporting Carl Zeiss Meditec's manufacturing operations.This role plays a critical part in maintaining reliable facility operations and ensuring the environmental conditions required to support medical device manufacturing. The Senior HVAC Technician will work with critical systems, including cleanroom and production-area HVAC systems, chilled water systems, and associated mechanical equipment.HVAC Systems MaintenancePerform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial HVAC systems.Maintain and troubleshoot a variety of HVAC and mechanical equipment, including:Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Rooftop Units (RTUs)Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Chillers, chilled water, and glycol cooling systemsBoilers and heating systemsExhaust systemsPumps, valves, and related mechanical equipmentDiagnose system failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.Monitor and maintain required temperature, humidity, airflow, and pressure conditions throughout the facility.Cleanroom & Controlled Environment SupportMaintain HVAC systems supporting ISO-classified manufacturing and laboratory environments.Help ensure cleanroom environmental requirements are consistently maintained, including temperature, humidity, airflow, and pressure relationships.Troubleshoot environmental excursions and support the implementation of corrective actions.Follow cleanroom gowning, contamination control, and other applicable procedures when entering controlled environments.Preventive Maintenance & ReliabilityPerform scheduled preventive maintenance using the Facilities CMMS, MPulse.Accurately document maintenance activities, findings, repairs, and recommendations in the CMMS.Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and performance.Support facility and equipment uptime goals by proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.Building Automation Systems (BAS)Monitor and troubleshoot HVAC controls through the Building Automation System.Identify alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and equipment trends.Work with controls contractors and other technical resources when advanced troubleshooting or repairs are required.Safety, Quality & CompliancePerform all work in accordance with applicable safety and quality requirements, including:OSHA requirementsLockout/Tagout (LOTO) proceduresElectrical safety practicesCompany Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policiesQuality system requirementsMaintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and technical information.Follow all applicable procedures and requirements associated with a medical device manufacturing environment.Contractor & Project SupportSupport HVAC installation projects, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement initiatives.Assist with contractor coordination and verify that work is completed according to specifications and requirements.Provide technical expertise and recommendations for HVAC-related projects and facility improvements.Do you qualify?Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent and completion of an HVAC trade school or equivalent technical training.EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification.Minimum 5 years of HVAC maintenance experience in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments.Hands-on experience troubleshooting:HVAC mechanical systemsRefrigeration systemsChilled water systemsAir handling equipmentHVAC controls and sensorsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience in one or more of the following environments is highly desirable:Cleanrooms or other controlled environmentsMedical device manufacturingPharmaceutical manufacturingSemiconductor manufacturingOther regulated manufacturing environmentsExperience with Building Automation Systems (BAS)Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as MPulse or similar platformsKnowledge of ISO cleanroom requirements and environmental monitoringSkills & AbilitiesWorking knowledge of cGMP, FDA, ISO 13485, and other requirements associated with regulated manufacturing environments is highly desirable.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to emergency equipment failures while maintaining a high level of customer service.Strong organizational and documentation skills, including experience maintaining accurate records in a CMMS.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior maintenance technicians.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, contractors, and leadership.Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to:Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Frequently climb and descend building and roof-access ladders.Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms for extended periods.Work in mechanical rooms, manufacturing areas, and controlled environments, including cleanrooms.Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.Work EnvironmentThe Senior HVAC Technician works across a variety of facility and manufacturing environments and may be exposed to:Fumes and airborne particlesMoving procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used as required.Work ScheduleThis is a full-time position with core hours of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.CompensationThe
