Location: Miramar, Florida Summary Provides direct patient care on assigned units in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Responsibilities Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires. Evaluates learning needs of the patient and/or family; provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient admission, transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Demonstrates flexibility and competency to provide patient care throughout the South Broward Hospital District to a variety of patient populations. Competencies Accountability Customer Service Development and Implementation of Plan of Care Knowledge of Disease Process Organization Skills (4) Patient and Family Centered Care Patient Safety – Nursing Problem Solving – Patient Care Responding to Change Standards of Behavior Education and Certification Requirements Accredited Program: Nursing (Required) BLS American Heart E‑Card (BLS AHA ECARD) BLS American Heart RQI E‑Card (BLS AHA‑RQI ECARD) BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) NRP American Heart RQI E‑Card (NRP AHA‑RQI ECARD) NRP Certification (NRP) NRP Certification Grace (NRP GRACE) Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) – Compact RN Multistate Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) – State of Florida (FL) ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate – required for those RN’s administering chemotherapy Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/BLS – required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre‑Op and Specialty Procedural areas PALS – required for Pediatric areas (except NICU) NRP – required for NICU and L&D RNs Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) – for L&D RNs Newly licensed RN’s have 6 months to obtain ACLS and/or PALS, and Fetal Monitoring if L&D Required Experience Two (2) years of nursing experience in a specialty field. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Requires standing, walking, and handling patients up to 35 pounds. Must be able to sit, kneel, and use a keyboard for 80% of the shift. Ability to perform basic mobility tasks and handle repetitive hand/arm motions for 80% of the shift. Must meet all American Heart Association or equivalent life‑support certifications as listed.
