Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description As a Phlebotomist II, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties including troubleshooting, training, and providing workflow recommendations. Your primary function will be to collect and store specimens according to established procedures while maintaining a high level of professionalism and care. Responsibilities * Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. * Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. * Decontaminate and update patient information regularly. * Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures. * Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. * Ensure all physician orders are fully understood and followed. * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes correctly. * Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. * Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy. * Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature. * Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. * Attend annual department trainings. * Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Additional Skills & Qualifications * At least 2 year of experience in specimen collection and customer service. * Strong skills in phlebotomy, blood draw, and venipuncture. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, typically in a lab or hospital setting, where you will use various technologies and equipment to collect and handle specimens. The role requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of specimens during transport and storage Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
