GENERAL STORE CASHIER

Cashier Position

Team member will be responsible for greeting customers by displaying hospitality behaviors and performance standards. Completes sales transactions and maintains displays according to merchandizing standards. Operates cash register and prepares all shift opening and closing duties. Will also assist customers and team members by providing customer service in retail store to all customers at all times. Will be responsible to assist supervisors in maintaining inventory records for all store merchandise.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following and are subject to change at management's discretion:

• Be polite, smile and greet the customers.
• Answer the phone with the appropriate greeting.
• Check out and check in appropriate department keys.
• Keeping all counters, equipment, shelves and floors clean.
• Team members are knowledgeable of store policies, department procedures, and job duties, and performance of all duties;
• Records delivery of merchandise, compares record with merchandise ordered, and reports discrepancies to control costs,
• Inspects merchandise to ensure it is correctly priced and displayed, and coordinates all store displays, when applicable;
• Recommends additions to or deletions of merchandise to be sold in the convenience store.
• Listens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relations;
• Installs and removes department cash-register-receipt tape and gas pump receipt tape.
• Adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and travel center policies and procedures, and to the casino Internal Control Structure;
• Other duties as assigned.

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one to two years job-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Must be able to use hand held communications devices. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The team member must be able to stand for several hours.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. The noise level in the work environment is loud. The team member will be exposed to a second-hand smoke-filled environment. The team member may be exposed to biohazardous fluids such as blood and other body fluids. The team member may be exposed to hostile environments with guest. May be subject to high stress environments.
