San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Student worker will assist in the Special Programs & Workforce Development office with front desk, answering phones, scheduling and copying, etc. Student employee will assist in providing program related general support during assigned office hours and assist with program activities. Must have the ability to work with a diverse student population. Representative duties include:

• Greeting the public at the ATTC building
• Answering phones
• Mail distribution
• Assist with the facilitation of events at the Del Rosa site.
• Clerical support, data entry
• Create and organize files, documents, and binders.
• Gather and prepare materials/items for tabling events in the community and at the Del Rosa site.
• Completes department-specific projects.
• Create a database associated with the assigned area (apprenticeship programs, employer contacts, community partner contacts, etc.)
• Assist with small research task.
• Assist consumers with applying to each college.
• Provides support to the assigned area during presentations.
• Follow up on the community interest log and direct parties to the appropriate area within the district.
• Develop and keep a community resource list updated for the Del Rosa site.

Minimum requirements include:

• Student must have in possession of a Federal Work Study award letter for the current academic year funding.
• Student cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
• Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
• Student must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA.
• Student must have a current TB.

Desired qualifications include:

• Ability to follow directions in order to carry out the duties as assigned.
• Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the program and/or have completed some courses in the specific program or related fields
• Student must be available to work 15 hours per week in 3 to 5 hours blocks of time.
• Ability to work with a team or independently.
• Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the department.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Approval of employment will be based on the results of the TB test and Live Scan results.

The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:

• Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
• Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
• Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment
• Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).

Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements is mandatory to be eligible for employment. These requirements are in accordance with the San Bernardino Community College District's Administrative Procedures and Board Policies.

This position is not eligible for full-time benefits.
