Family Law Attorney

Cole Law Group, P.C. is seeking an experienced Family Law Associate Attorney to join our Brentwood, Tennessee office. This is a full-time position based in our Brentwood office for an attorney who is prepared to assume meaningful responsibility for an active family-law caseload and handle matters from initial consultation through negotiation, mediation, hearings, trial, and post-judgment proceedings. Our family law practice represents clients in divorce, child custody and parenting disputes, child support, alimony, property division, modifications, contempt proceedings, and other contested domestic-relations matters. We are looking for an attorney who combines strong litigation skills with sound judgment, excellent client communication, and the ability to identify practical solutions when settlement is in the client's best interests. Responsibilities include: Independently managing family-law matters from intake through resolution. Advising clients regarding legal strategy, settlement options, and the practical and financial considerations affecting their cases. Drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda, proposed orders, parenting plans, settlement agreements, and other court filings. Preparing and responding to discovery, reviewing financial and other records, and preparing clients and witnesses for depositions and hearings. Taking and defending depositions. Preparing for and appearing at motions, temporary hearings, mediations, evidentiary hearings, and trials. Negotiating settlements and participating effectively in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. Maintaining regular, responsive, and professional communication with clients. Managing court deadlines and an active caseload in an organized and efficient manner. Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff to provide consistently high-quality representation. Qualifications: J.D. from an accredited law school. Active Tennessee law license in good standing. Demonstrated experience handling Tennessee family-law matters, with at least three years of family-law or comparable civil-litigation experience preferred. Experience independently managing cases and maintaining direct client relationships. Courtroom experience, including contested hearings and trials. Experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and evidentiary matters. Familiarity with Tennessee divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property division, and post-divorce proceedings. Strong negotiation and dispute-resolution skills. Excellent legal research, analytical, writing, and oral-advocacy abilities. Ability to analyze financial records and other evidence commonly encountered in divorce litigation. Sound judgment, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism. Ability to provide practical, candid advice to clients navigating difficult and often emotionally charged circumstances.
