Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as medically prescribed
• Perform ventilator management including setup, self-testing, monitoring, and weaning of patients on mechanical ventilation
• Conduct arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning
• Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal
• Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately in the patient chart and respiratory care records

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by state
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Experience with ventilator weaning
• Ability to operate and maintain a variety of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment
• Ability to perform arterial punctures and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases
• Proficiency with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal tube insertion and removal
• Experience with PleurX catheter or similar chest drainage devices
