Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Job Type:Full-time | Variable 12-hour Shift rotate every other weekend and major holidays. More about our team The Adult Psychiatric Unit is a 29-bed locked unit. The unit provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals between the ages of 18-59. Individuals over the age of 59 are evaluated for admission on an individual basis. Patients admitted to the unit have a primary DSM 5 diagnosis/es. However, patients may also have additional diagnoses, including, but not limited to Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, medical comorbidities, etc. Patients must be medically stable as a criteria for admission. Safety practices include 15-minute safety checks, staff monitoring of all community areas and staff presence during meals and visiting hours. Nursing care, daily psychiatric assessments, therapy and medication management are provided to meet the emotional, behavioral, physical, cultural, educational and spiritual needs of the adult patient population. The nurses work 12-hour shifts (7A & 7P). There is great teamwork among the staff. How you'll contribute A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role: Coordinates the Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences in accordance with the PA State Board of Nursing Licensure requirement and ANA Scope and Standards of Practice. Provides patient assessment throughout patient stay and participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers. Initiates and updates individualized patient treatment plan. Adheres to the 10 Rights of medication administration. Collaborates with physician aspart of Interdisciplinary Team. Is knowledgeable regarding patient condition, completes patient assessment and reassessment, reports changes to the Physician. Reports patient's status and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety. Implements the interventions identified in the established plan of care and collaborate with members of the Patient Care Team. Demonstrates and completes competencies. Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information. Maintains accountability and productivity for appropriate staffing following the flexible-staffing plan. Attends and participates as a minimum requirement 6 staff meetings annually. Reads all staff meeting minutes. Maintains proficiency in Conemaugh Connect as applicable. Participates in Process Improvement unit based activities and hospital based activities as directed. Commits to Service Excellence and continually strives toward achievement of the Standards of Care. Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of patient's rights and patient responsibilities. Actively participates with the development and implementation of unit specific evidenced-based initiatives to improve the outcome of nurse sensitive indicators. Attends educational sessions as directed by the nurse manager to gain knowledge about new treatment options, procedures, or equipment. Timely renewal of PA State RN licensure. Read and complete a minimum of 4 age specific competencies annually. Perform 5 moments of hand hygiene. What we're looking for Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
