Tunnel Engineer Graduate

Join Mott MacDonald as a graduate in our Blueprint program launching in October 2026, located in Los Angeles, CA. Your responsibilities may include: Assisting in the development of tunnel designs, including shafts, linings, and underground structures Performing engineering calculations and supporting structural and geotechnical analysis Developing and reviewing engineering drawings using CAD and modeling tools Supporting preparation of feasibility studies, technical reports, and design deliverables Contributing to internal design reviews and QA/QC processes Maintaining organized design documentation and records Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (geotechnical, structural, civil) Participating in internal project meetings and tracking actions Supporting preparation of presentations and technical summaries Building connections through our Early Career Professionals Network Required skills and qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field Successful completion of the EIT exam, or ability to take the EIT exam within 12 months Demonstrated interest in your chosen field through previous internships, volunteering opportunities, or organization memberships Creative thinking skills, with a methodical and pragmatic approach to problem solving Proficient communication and presentation skills to engage confidently with clients and colleagues Resilient, solution‑oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous growth and delivering value Ability to build and maintain relationships and rapport with internal and external stakeholders Collaborative spirit and commitment to teamwork Knowledge in these areas would be highly beneficial and strongly preferred: Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering Engineering Geology / Rock Mechanics Foundation Engineering Structural Analysis Underground Construction / Tunnel Engineering Finite Element / Numerical Methods Construction Methods & Temporary Works Engineering Materials Hydrogeology / Groundwater Engineering Benefits & Rewards We provide a comprehensive benefit package that includes 401(k), medical, dental and vision insurance, short‑term/long‑term disability, paid holidays, paid time off, parental leave, and company‑paid life insurance. Individual pay is determined by work location, education, experience, and unique skills. The expected salary for this position is $79,000 – $88,000.
