Testing Center Specialist - PT Position Title: Testing Center Specialist - PT Department: Enrollment/Registration & Records Location: Beatrice Job Category: Professional Job Type: PT Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Testing, the Testing Center Specialist administers and proctors make‑up, placement, online/hybrid, industry‑specific, GED (through Pearson Vue), and other tests in the Testing & Assessment Center. The Specialist maintains accurate test files, advises students on placement test results, and works part‑time regular hours scheduled by the College between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Responsibilities Schedule and administer Next Generation Accuplacer/Placement testing on and off campus. Travel to remote sites for off‑campus placement testing. Advise students on placement test results and complete certification requirements. Implement accommodations for students with disabilities. Schedule and proctor college make‑up tests, and online/hybrid class tests requiring proctoring. Communicate with other colleges/agencies regarding proctoring requests. Schedule and administer GED, CLEP, and other industry‑specific tests following Pearson Vue guidelines. Become and maintain Pearson Vue and CLEP certification. Provide general information about SCC programs, placement testing, continuing education, etc. Guide prospective GED applicants through the educational and testing process. Refer students to appropriate college resources. Assist online testing students with the online testing process. Serve as a liaison between instructors and students requiring assistance. Maintain a secure testing environment per College regulations. Uphold academic integrity policies. Enter placement test scores into Colleague and/or Recruit. Prepare reports of testing numbers by term and annually. Prepare GED test result transcripts as requested. Receive and deposit funds collected for proctored tests and retests. Communicate positively and effectively with supervisors, staff, instructors, and students. Promote an environment of belonging and support college policies on access, fair employment, and equal opportunities. Assist with public relations activities such as campus tours and outreach programs. Coordinate referrals for delivery of college support services. Participate in local, state, and regional testing and assessment associations. Provide testing information to faculty and staff as requested. Assist the Director of Testing with resource material acquisition and development. Travel to other SCC campuses and off‑campus locations within the 15‑county region and occasionally outside the region. Perform other duties as assigned within the division/program and College. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with computers, word processing, database, and spreadsheet software. Excellent writing and professional business communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Friendly and helpful assistance to the public amid interruptions. Effective communication with diverse students, staff, and the public. Ability to work productively within the Testing & Assessment Center, follow directives, and support staff. Good problem‑solving skills and contribution to management decisions. Effective written, verbal, and phone communication. Physical capacity to work at a desk, present, provide tours, lift up to 30 lbs, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, reach, ride or drive a College vehicle up to 100 miles, and endure various weather conditions. Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Human Relations, Business, or related field. One year of work experience in an education setting (counseling, teaching, higher education, or testing). Successful completion of certification requirements for Next Generation Accuplacer, PearsonVue, and CLEP within six months of hire. Must not be employed as an ABE or ESL instructor in any primary, secondary, or post‑secondary institution (per Federal GED regulations). Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Human Relations, Business or related field. Two or more years of work experience in education or college student services (Admissions, Recruitment, Testing, Financial Aid, Counseling, Placement, Assessment, Career & Academic Advising, Retention, or Registration). Physical Demands Work at a desk for 2–4 hours, up to 8 hours continuously. Present for 2–4 hours, up to 8 hours continuously. Provide tours up to 1.5 hours. Operate computer, mouse, keyboard, phone, and office equipment continuously. Lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Climb stairs carrying up to 30 lbs. Bend, kneel, stoop, squat regularly. Reach with arms above head, in front, or below knee. Provide tours outside in various weather conditions. Drive a College vehicle up to 100 miles. Benefits Part‑time regular employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan through a Roth, SRA, or 457(B) account (no match).
