Physical Therapist - Travel Contract

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
• Active Alabama state license or ability to obtain state license prior to the assignment start.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Acute care experience preferred. Candidates without acute care experience will be considered if willing to be trained and coached.
• Experience with Cerner/PowerChart EMR preferred.
• Ability to manage high-volume caseloads (typical patient load 10–12 per therapist, approximately 15 units per day).
• Team player who is adaptable and coachable.

Preferred Qualifications

• MSPT or DPT degree preferred.
• Experience treating trauma, orthopedics, neuro, cardiac, post-op, ICU, and med-surg patients.
• Prior hospital or level II trauma center experience preferred.

Assignment Details

• Standard hours per week: 40.
• Schedule: five 8-hour shifts per week.
• Weekend rotation: approximately once per month.
• May be asked to assist with major or minor seasonal holiday coverage per policy.
• Casueload may include any area within the hospital including trauma, orthopedics, neuro, med-surg, ICU, and ED; floating within the hospital is required.
• Three-day departmental orientation. Initial 1:1 support with a rehab aide during first one to two weeks.

Impacting Patient Care

Provide acute care physical therapy in a hospital setting serving trauma, orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, post-operative, ICU, and medical-surgical populations. Contribute to timely evaluations, treatment progression, and interdisciplinary coordination using Cerner/PowerChart. Support patient throughput and outcomes in a busy 492-bed facility and primary stroke center.
