Medical Assistant – Pediatric ClinicPosition Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Assistant to join a busy pediatric practice. In this role, you will work closely with a dedicated provider and care team to deliver exceptional patient care while supporting children and their families throughout their healthcare experience.

This position requires prior pediatric medical assisting experience, as you will be expected to work confidently with pediatric patients and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties

• Obtain and accurately document pediatric patient vital signs and measurements.

• Perform point-of-care (POC) testing and record results appropriately.

• Conduct pediatric phlebotomy procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

• Assist providers with exam room preparation prior to patient visits.

• Clean, stock, and reset exam rooms between patients.

• Support quality patient care by maintaining accurate clinical documentation.

Administrative Duties

• Complete medication prior authorizations and coordinate with providers, pharmacies, and insurance carriers.

• Conduct follow-up calls to families regarding test results, care instructions, and treatment plans.

• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding patient care and clinic procedures.

• Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to maintain efficient patient flow and scheduling.

Provider Support

• Float between two pediatric clinic locations while supporting the same provider to ensure continuity of care.

• Foster strong relationships with patients, families, providers, and clinical staff.

Required Qualifications

• Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a pediatric clinic setting.

• Experience obtaining and documenting pediatric vital signs.

• Proficiency in pediatric phlebotomy and blood collection.

• Experience performing point-of-care testing.

• Knowledge of medication prior authorization processes.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work between two clinic locations as needed.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Dedicated lunch break included each day.

• Supportive, collaborative pediatric clinic environment.

• Work primarily in exam rooms and clinical support areas.

• Opportunity to build long-term relationships with the same provider and patient population while supporting two clinic locations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
