Tractor Trailer Mechanic

J.B. Hunt is hiring experienced tractor trailer mechanics for our team in Chicago! These roles are vital to our everyday operations by keeping our equipment operating efficiently and safely.
We have openings for mechanics servicing our trailers, both in the shop and at customer and rail locations. You'll be responsible for performing basic to intermediate-level maintenance, service and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers, chassis and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on J.B. Hunt equipment including trailer equipment, as well as tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics air brake systems and FHWA inspections
- Diagnose and troubleshoot heavy-duty truck and tractor issues to OEM and company standards
- Complete work orders within SRT and warranty guidelines
- Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain professional communication
- Participate in OEM training and assist with technician onboarding
The expected hourly pay range is between $21 and $34 per hour. Hourly wage is dependent on position hired for and work experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old
- At least 1-2 years of hands-on mechanic experience servicing semi-trucks or trailers or military equivalent
- Basic welding skills
- At least 1 year experience in DOT and FHWA inspections and air brake systems
- Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through J.B. Hunt purchasing program
- Mobile technicians must possess a valid drivers’ license and clean motor vehicle record
