The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements. About Our NICU Join our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where you'll care for some of our most vulnerable patients while working alongside a highly skilled, collaborative multidisciplinary team. Our unit is committed to clinical excellence, professional development, and delivering exceptional family-centered care. Patient Population: Our team provides specialized care for newborns with conditions including:
- Preterm infants
- Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR)
- Hypoglycemia
- Respiratory distress
- Neonatal infections
- 12 private NICU rooms, each capable of accommodating twins
- Nursery available for 6 additional patients
- Family-centered environment designed to support both infants and their families
- Advanced critical care assessment skills
- IV starts and arterial sticks
- Umbilical line placement and IV infusion management
- CPAP and ventilator management
- Family education and support throughout the patient's hospitalization
- Level III NICU designation
- Several RNC-NIC certified nurses
- Multiple DAISY Award nominees and recipients
- Multiple Capstone preceptors supporting nursing student education
- Two consecutive years CLABSI free
- Two consecutive years achieving 100% patient experience scores (2023-2025)
- Extensive teamwork and collaboration
- Year-round educational opportunities, including classes, skills labs, and simulation experiences
- A strong commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
- Close collaboration with multidisciplinary partners including respiratory therapy, social work, and other specialty teams
- Requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required based on unit or department specialty.
