Private Duty Nurse – Home Care Duties

• Provide continuous skilled nursing care to a medically complex patient in the home setting.

• Perform tracheostomy care , suctioning, airway monitoring, and emergency airway management.

• Monitor oxygen therapy and respiratory status for chronic respiratory failure with hypoxia.

• Administer enteral nutrition and medications via gastrostomy (G-tube) and monitor feeding tolerance.

• Observe and manage seizure activity and maintain seizure precautions.

• Perform ongoing neurological assessments due to history of stroke, encephalopathy, and brain injury.

• Manage urinary devices and urinary retention , including catheter or drainage care.

• Monitor and document vital signs, oxygen saturation, and patient condition .

• Implement aspiration precautions and dysphagia safety measures .

• Provide skin care, repositioning, and mobility support to prevent pressure injuries due to immobility and muscle weakness.

• Monitor for complications related to hydrocephalus, malnutrition, anemia, and electrolyte imbalance .
