Position Overview

As a Hospital Pharmacist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications while supporting inpatient and outpatient care throughout the facility. This role requires expertise in medication verification, sterile compounding, clinical pharmacy operations, and regulatory compliance within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately and efficiently to support inpatient and outpatient care
• Verify physician orders and evaluate medication regimens for appropriateness, safety, and potential drug interactions
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, regulatory requirements, and New York State pharmacy guidelines
• Prepare and verify IV admixtures and sterile compounded medications within the IV room environment
• Maintain accurate patient and medication records utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
• Participate in sterile processing activities and support the safe handling of pharmaceuticals
• Educate healthcare providers and patients regarding medication usage, side effects, contraindications, and interactions
• Support medication safety initiatives, inventory management, and formulary compliance efforts
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of Pharmacist experience required
• Hospital or inpatient pharmacy experience required
• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or higher required
• Current and active New York State Pharmacist License (NYSED) required
• Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and medication management practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with pharmacy dispensing systems preferred
• Sterile processing and IV room experience preferred
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred
• Previous experience within acute care or hospital settings strongly preferred
