About the Role:
American Power Equipment Inc is looking for a skilled Service mechanic to join their team in Carol Stream, IL! This is a great opportunity to put your mechanical expertise to work in a dynamic, hands-on environment where your skills truly make a difference. Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair power equipment to manufacturer specifications
- Perform routine maintenance, tune-ups, and inspections on small engines and power equipment
- Accurately document service records, repair orders, and parts used
- Communicate repair status and recommendations clearly to customers and service advisors
- Order and manage parts inventory needed for repairs and maintenance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with shop standards
- Stay current with manufacturer training, technical bulletins, and industry updates
Requirements:
- Prior experience servicing small engines, outdoor power equipment, or related mechanical systems
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across gas and/or electric-powered equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced shop environment
- Must provide own basic hand tools; specialty tools provided
