Unit Information

• Number of Beds: Adolescent Unit: 18 beds, Serenity: 24 beds, Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU): 32 beds, Senior Residential Addiction Unit (SRAD): 16 beds, VINE Unit: 9 beds
• Patient Ratios: Nurses: 8:1, Mental Health Technicians (MHTs): 12:1

Unit Staffing Description

The Adolescent Unit caters to patients aged 12-18 years, while the Serenity Unit serves lower acuity adults. The ITU focuses on higher acuity adults with thought disorders, SRAD accommodates patients in a senior lifestyle, and VINE is a lower acuity adult unit.

Documentation and Scheduling

Documentation System: Meditech

Coverage Requirement: Three 12-hour shifts needed daily, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems.
• Experience in developing individualized care plans tailored to the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues.
• Proficient in medication management, including administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects.
• Crisis intervention skills for providing short-term support to patients in crisis, including de-escalation techniques.
• Strong therapeutic communication skills, emphasizing trust, rapport, effective communication, active listening, and empathy.

Monitoring Responsibilities

Responsibilities include monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Dress Code

Uniforms are required: Nurses wear blue; MHTs wear green or black.
