Manufacturing Process Engineer
Responsible for design, development, improvement, troubleshooting, implementation, and evaluation of processes and equipment
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Help develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes and systems
Improve new and existing manufacturing equipment and processes
Support manufacturing with daily operational problems through hands-on troubleshooting using root cause analysis and corrective / preventive measures
Coordinate implementation of product design changes
Participate in FMEA development and improvements
Oversee and coordinate the design and build of production equipment, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes while improving operator safety, reducing labor, improving quality, and reducing waste of materials and utilities
Analyze equipment operations, processes, and associate procedures to determine and improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, workflow, layout, and maintenance-related issues
Support continuous improvement initiatives while driving Lean and 5S
Participate in development and review of all processes and work instructions to ensure accuracy, standardization, and conformance to actual procedures. Revise as needed
Ensure equipment accuracy, reliability, and efficiency with preventative maintenance procedures
Required Education And/Or Experience
Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing; automotive manufacturing experience preferred
Experience in lean production and manufacturing technology
Required Skills And Abilities
Working knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and principles, including latest technologies
Good analytical/problem solving skills
Project management skills
Above average computer skills, including Windows applications, CAD, and ERP systems
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to manage action plans while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability
Good written / verbal communication and communication skills; Able to work effectively with others; Ability to effect change through influence
Good organizational and time management skills; Attention to details; Can work independently
Basic knowledge of PLC programming, robotics, electrical schematics, machining / tooling
Basic knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF requirements
Team player with positive attitude toward new concepts and initiatives
Self-motivated; Accountable for decisions; Work effectively under pressure
Sound understanding of materials requirement planning
Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques
Required Decision-Making And Organization Impact
Identifies and improves key manufacturing processes to provide stable and effective equipment in order to maintain quality, cost, and delivery goals
Documents and summarizes R&D and improvement activity to maximize SRED tax credits with adequate supporting documentation
Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to the Engineering / Maintenance Manager
This position does not have any direct reports
Working Conditions
Work environment varies 50% to 80% on the plant floor vs office area
Minimal – moderate noise in open-office area / moderate – loud noise in plant
Moderate exposure to hazardous working conditions, including moving machinery and tow motors
Occasional travel to tool shops and other Sanoh facilities
Physical Requirements
20% - 50% of time sitting at computer desk vs standing / walking in the plant
Ability to walk and move about, bend/twist, stoop, kneel, crouch
Ability to lift/carry objects up to 30 pounds from various positions, occasionally
Shift and "on-call" work may be required
$1,000 per month
