Communications Specialist

Eagle Health Analytics has contracted with CDC's Mycotic Diseases Branch to provide scientific support and services for laboratory, communication and epidemiology within the Mycotic Diseases Branch. The overall objective is to provide laboratory, epidemiology, public health, and communication support to the branch as it strives to detect and respond to mycotic diseases and provide technical assistance to the United States jurisdictions.

The Communications Specialist II and Communications Specialist I will support MDB communications products and dissemination activities. This approach is grounded in CDC public health communications practices and the attached DFWED communications scope, which includes development of public and internal communication materials, web work, social media, newsletters, plain-language review, Section 508 remediation, metrics, stakeholder coordination, and emergency response surge communications.

The communications team will organize work through a product lifecycle: intake, audience and channel clarification, evidence review, drafting, SME review, clearance support, accessibility review, dissemination support, and metrics/lessons learned. For each product, EHA will identify the intended audience, message objective, evidence source, review path, required clearance, target date, and delivery format.

Communications products may include, as assigned by CDC:

• Talking points, speeches, slide decks, internal briefs, prepared responses, fact sheets, web content, press materials, social media content, and newsletter content.
• Audience-based materials for public health professionals, healthcare professionals, high-risk populations, internal CDC audiences, partners, and the public, as applicable.
• Emergency or outbreak communications products such as key messages, Q&A documents, one-pagers, social content, web updates, and presentation materials.
• Monthly assignment and accomplishment summaries that distinguish completed products, products in clearance, products awaiting Government input, metrics reviewed, and next-period priorities.

Qualifications:

a. Bachelors degree or higher

b. 3-5 years of experience working in public health communications

c. Knowledge of infectious disease

d. Knowledge of CDC policy, quality and regulatory training

e. Experience creating social media campaigns related to public health

f. Experience creating press releases and talking points for internal and external audiences

g. Working knowledge of CDC and its written and electronic communications
