Full-time | $23.00 per hour | Weekend availability required

Heitzman Traditional Bakery & Cafe, a fifth-generation family-owned business, is seeking an experienced, dependable cook to prepare food for our catering business, retail deli case, and corporate catering orders.

We are hiring immediately and looking for someone who takes pride in preparing quality food, keeps an organized kitchen, and can manage several orders and deadlines throughout the day.

This is a hands-on cooking position with responsibilities that include:

• Preparing hot and cold food for catering orders, including entrées, side dishes, sandwiches, salads, and trays.
• Preparing and replenishing the retail deli case with fresh, appealing products.
• Reviewing incoming ezCater orders and organizing preparation so orders are complete, accurate, and ready on time.
• Checking portions, quantities, special instructions, packaging, and labels before orders leave the kitchen.
• Planning daily prep around upcoming catering orders and deli needs.
• Following established recipes and portion standards to maintain consistent quality and control waste.
• Monitoring inventory and communicating ingredient and supply needs before shortages affect production.
• Properly storing, labeling, dating, and rotating food.
• Maintaining a clean, organized work area and following food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Working closely with our catering coordinator, deli staff, and management to keep production running smoothly.

We are looking for someone with:

• Previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Experience with catering, banquet cooking, batch preparation, or deli production preferred.
• The ability to organize prep work and meet multiple order deadlines.
• Confidence working independently while communicating well with a team.
• Attention to food quality, presentation, portions, and order accuracy.
• Dependability and availability to work required weekend shifts.

A culinary degree is not required.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to an established Louisville family business, preparing everything from everyday deli favorites to meals for special events.

Pay: $23.00 per hour
